Portfolio Documents directory - download this to your USB drive and then "unzip" it. If you get warning notices, just click on OK until it opens the file. It will create a file folder in the same location to which you've download the zip file (note that location if you're asked to choose one) titled, eportfolio

Web hosting options: Your school most likely offers free webspace to students and faculty. If you prefer to use an outside server (for example, if you're job-hunting outside of your institution), check your Internet Service Provider, for example, Verizon offers 10 MB of web space. If you don't have that option, a number of other services can be bought or used for free.

Yahoo Geocities (free - has ads)
FreeWebsites (ads)

For fees - but without ads and with more control:
Go-Daddy (my personal host)
.Mac (for Apple owners; integrates with Apple's iLife suite of programs)

Options for portfolios

1. An online project through the KEEP system Instructions Sign Up then see Instructions I have sent my portfolio to you - you should see it once you log in.

2. A set of web pages using html - Choose a program, download and edit. See below for Mozilla Instructions Dreamweaver instructions

3. PowerPoint Instructions or Word Instructions

Documents from Helen Barrett:

To get a free html editing program:

Download Mozilla to get a suite of Internet programs, one of which is Composer, which will allow you to edit html pages. After downloading, go to the "Window" pull don menu at the top and choose "Composer" Open the first file called index.html in your directory that you downloaded to your flash drive or desktop. You can make changes in the page now. Use the tabs at the bottom to change views. For detailed instructions see this page

For more advanced users, or the adventurous, download the trial of Dreamweaver and try it out free for 30 days. If you decide to buy it there is an academic discount.
